The Medina Township Board of Trustees Monthly Meeting

Purpose:  Regularly Scheduled Board Meeting

Present:  Shawn Garner, Supervisor

Mike Molohon, Trustee 

Cam Parr, Trustee 

Cindy Greene, Trustee 

Luke Harvey, Trustee 

Mary Sundermeyer, Clerk  

Other Officials and Township Staff Present:  

Frank Sturm II, Road Commissioner

Others In Attendance:  1 resident

Call To Order:  Supervisor Garner called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm

Approval of Minutes:  Mary presented the minutes from October 9, 2024. Shawn made a motion to approve the minutes, Mike seconded. The minutes were approved by a unanimous voice vote.

Community Policing Report:  Mary gave the report for October 2024. There were 46 reports made involving 26 reports of crimes (16 original crimes).  There were also 11 traffic stops made in the township. 

Public Input:  None 

Old Business:  None

New Business:  Shawn presented Resolution TWN-2024-04 dealing with the salaries of the township personnel starting May 19, 2025. 4 of the positions stayed the same:  Supervisor, Clerk, Assessor, Road District Treasurer. The 4 Trustees’ salaries went to $200 per meeting. The Highway Commissioner’s salary is set to a 3% increase for each of 4 years, compounded.

Shawn made a motion to approve Resolution TWN-2024-04. Luke seconded. A roll call vote was taken:  Shawn – Aye, Luke – Aye, Mike – Aye, Cam – Aye, Cindy – Aye. The motion passes.

Department Correspondence:

Supervisor Shawn Garner:  

  1. Investment Report:  The report ending on November 13, 2024, was previously presented to the board.
  2. There are no General Assistance cases pending. 
  3. There are no cases before the Plan Commission. They voted down the solar farm on Singing Woods Rd.

Road Commissioner:  Frank Sturm

  1. They have been collecting leaves starting on November 1.  The rain makes the leaves heavy and slows the collection. It delayed them by one day.
  2. Hoerr and Dillon have installed storm sewer liners on Woodside in Lake of the Woods and near Woodridge and Raintree in Colony Point. The work is now completed.

Assessor:  No report

Plan Commission:   No report

Trustees:  Luke has been getting calls on wind turbines. They are very large (700 feet high) and noisy and are owned by people from out of the country looking for government subsides. Luke encouraged them to come to the township board meetings.

Township/Road District Bills:  Mike made a motion to pay the bills of the township.  Cam seconded.  The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote.

Adjournment:  Mike made a motion to adjourn, and Luke seconded it. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 6:48 pm.
