The Medina Township Board of Trustees Monthly Meeting

Purpose:  Regularly Scheduled Board Meeting

Present:  Shawn Garner, Supervisor

Mike Molohon, Trustee 

Cindy Greene, Trustee 

Luke Harvey, Trustee 

Mary Sundermeyer, Clerk  

 

Absent: Cam Parr, Trustee

Other Officials and Township Staff Present:  

Frank Sturm II, Road Commissioner

Others In Attendance:  1 resident

Call To Order:  Supervisor Garner called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm

Approval of Minutes:  Mary presented the minutes from September 11, 2024. Shawn made a motion to approve the minutes, Cindy seconded. The minutes were approved by a unanimous voice vote.

Community Policing Report:  Supervisor Garner gave the report for September 2024. There were 60 reports made involving 26 reports of crimes (14 original crimes).  There were also 18 traffic stops made in the township. 

Public Input:  None 

Old Business:  None

New Business:  Shawn passed out reports from Hjerpe & Tennison of the annual audit for Medina Township. A final bound copy will be sent. This audit was filed with the State.

Shawn gave information on 8 new chairs for the township. The chairs are $180 apiece. Mike made a motion to buy 8 chairs for $1439.92. Cindy seconded. A roll call vote was taken: Shawn – Aye, Luke – Aye, Mike – Aye, Cindy – Aye. The motion passes.

Department Correspondence:

Supervisor Shawn Garner:  

  1. Investment Report:  The report ending on October 9, 2024, was previously presented to the board.
  2. There are no General Assistance cases pending. 
  3. The materials for the new fence for the ballpark were stolen from the park. The police were notified and an insurance claim was filed with TOIRMA.
  4. Have started the process of purchasing a lot from the Road District. A Special Town Meeting is set for 10/23/24 to secure the electors’ approval as set in the agenda outlined at the September meeting. Town Capital Fund will be used for the fund transfer.

Road Commissioner:  Frank Sturm

  1. They are preparing the leaf machines for the Fall leaf pick-up.
  2. Colt Bishop (CJ) has been hired to replace Rod Fitzpatrick who will be retiring in December.
  3. The miscellaneous concrete repair work has been completed and the road district has been invoiced for this work.
  4. The seal coating work has been completed and we have not been invoiced yet.

Assessor:  No report

Plan Commission:   No report

Trustees:  No reports

Township/Road District Bills:  Shawn made a motion to pay the bills of the township.  Mike seconded.  The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote.

Adjournment:  Mike made a motion to adjourn, and Luke seconded it. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 6:17 pm.
